Section 98 — Emergency Accommodation

Temporary accommodation while your Section 95 application is being processed. This may be a hostel, hotel or other temporary housing.

Section 95 — Main Support

For those whose claim is being considered and who have no means of support.

⚠️ Accommodation is allocated across the UK — you do not choose the city. This is temporary housing.

Permission to Work and Housing

From 26 March 2026, the right to work for asylum seekers is limited to vacancies at RQF Level 6+ (graduate-level qualifications). This is stricter than before — make sure your profession is on the list.

Right to Rent

The request can be made by the applicant, landlord or letting agent. You need a reference number, surname and date of birth.

After Receiving Refugee Status

If you are granted leave to remain — you have 56 days to leave Home Office accommodation. You need to:
